What is a PNR?

A PNR (Passenger Name Record) is the reservation record that a Global Distribution System, such as Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo, Travelport or Worldspan, creates when a flight is booked. It stores the passenger names and one coded line per flight segment holding the airline, flight number, booking class, travel date, route, segment status, and departure and arrival times. Airlines and travel agents read these codes daily, but clients should not have to. That is the job of a PNR converter, also called a PNR decoder: it turns the raw record into a readable itinerary.

How to read a GDS flight segment

Here is a typical Amadeus segment, decoded piece by piece:

1 segment number and day of week EK 621 · 77W airline, flight, aircraft K booking class (RBD) 12OCT · 0900 1100 date and local times LHEDXB origin to destination (IATA) HK2 status confirmed for 2 seats

Sabre and Worldspan use the same idea with 12 hour times (955A, 130P) and the class letter attached to the flight number (621K). Galileo adds a dot after the segment number and statuses like HS. Easy PNR Converter recognises all of these automatically.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a PNR?
A PNR (Passenger Name Record) is the reservation record a GDS such as Amadeus, Sabre or Galileo creates for a booking. It holds passenger names plus coded flight segments with airline, flight number, booking class, date, route, status and times.
What does this PNR converter do?
It turns that raw GDS output into a readable itinerary: airlines, airports, dates, local departure and arrival times, layover times and exact flight durations, ready to copy, share, print or download for your client.
Which GDS formats are supported?
Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo, Travelport and Worldspan segment formats, plus most itinerary text pasted from e-ticket confirmation emails. Detection is automatic, so you never have to choose a system.
Is Easy PNR Converter really free?
Yes. Converting on this site is completely free and unlimited, with no account, no keys and no paid tiers. The site is funded by on page advertising alone.
Is my PNR data private and safe?
Yes. The converter runs entirely inside your browser. Your PNR text is never uploaded, stored or sent to any server, and you can verify this in your browser network tab.
How are durations and layovers calculated?
Every airport is matched to its real IANA time zone, including daylight saving rules. Durations are true elapsed time between departure and arrival, so overnight flights and clock change dates come out exactly right.
Why does the itinerary sometimes show next year?
GDS segments carry a day and month but no year. The converter assumes the next future occurrence of that date, so a date that has already passed this year is shown for next year.
Can I add my agency branding?
Yes. Enter your agency name and an optional client note in the Customize bar. It appears on the itinerary, in copies, shares and printouts, and is remembered on your device only.
Do you have an airline and airport directory?
Yes. Browse every airline with its code, logo and country in the airline directory, and every airport with its city, country and time zone in the airport directory.
Can it read confirmation emails, not just GDS codes?
Yes. The parser reads text the way a person would: it recognises airline names like Emirates or Qatar Airways, city names like Manchester or Dubai, 12-hour and 24-hour times and any common date style, so you can paste a whole confirmation email as-is.
